Seamanship 101
Introduction to your sailing prompt and sailing tactics.
2 examples of a ship's prompt:(300hull SWdir ANCHOR Nwind 479,1225)
(450hull SWdir ANCHOR Nwind 100%shld 481,1225)
The first part you see the hull points remaining. When the hull reaches zero it will sink. Damage sustained by collisions is dependent on how fast it strikes at.
Then you see the direction that the ship is oriented in, the direction that it will travel in. N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, and Nw are all acceptable headings.
Where it says "ANCHOR", is the speed of the ship. Anchor, stop, slow, half, full, and flank are the speed settings.
The you see the direction the wind is coming from. If your ship is under sail power, then your ship needs to sail with the wind as much as possible. As in the example prompt, if the wind is blowing from the north, you'll make the best speed sailing due south.
The next two items in the prompt are available only through ship upgrades.
In the second prompt, the first one details the percentage strength of the ship's magical shield. Just because it says 100% does not mean you have 100 shield points, it is just at its max. Spectral and Vorpal Shields from Decara's shipwright give this.
The coordinates you see are the ships position in Alyria. They appear on the prompt from the onboard sextant upgrade, which is available at most shipwrights. The first number is how far from the western edge you are, increasing as you go east. The second number is how far you are from the northern edge, increasing as you go south.

The Wind can make or break a voyage time. It is a wise investment to buy the ship upgrade, the wind deflector. If the air is calm and there is no wind then there is no speed boost or hindering effect on the base speed of the ship. If you must sail in the direction of the wind then it is suggested to zig zag between the 2 directions nearest to the wind.
