Two warships battling in the old style of broadsides. Notice their lack of Ballistae and Fire Launchers, don't you make the same mistake!

Ship PK

Ship Player Killing [SPK]

Much like comparing regular PK to combat vs. NPCs, SPK is much more intense and faster paced than battles versus NPC Pirates or Sea Monsters.  Battles begin with an explosive opening barrage, continue with ships frantically trying to fire as quickly as possible, and ends with either another ship at the bottom of the locker, or a crippled ship limping away to safer waters.  Damage in Ship PK is 50% what it would be otherwise, making it fairly easy to get away unless the attacker has superb timing.

SPK can only take place in SPK waters, the [SPK] tag will appear next to your prompt if you are in such waters.  Consult our SPK Waters Chart to see the specific waters that are designated SPK.  Before pirates came to Alyria, all instances of SPK to date had been either practice sessions or players target practicing versus dummy skiffs.  There was no real danger in sailing through SPK from players.  Even now with pirates in Alyria, Ship PK is not much of a threat.  No one except a few select captains have the brass enough to try/do Ship PK people.  Most people don't want to waste gold when they could be getting gold-ingots from pirates.  This is the status quo, and it seems to us that the aggressive:total captains ratio is less than the aggressive:total ratio for regular PK; due to the risk and supposed pointlessness... Thankfully, it is far from pointless owning a ship!

The Wharf must apologize, in the past we relied upon PKZone to host logs, but in its demise we lost many enjoyable battles of SPK's birth.
